Yorkshire Heart is a new venture in the Vale of York, between York and Harrogate. The vines were planted in Spring 2006, so should begin to yield in 2009.Plantuimgs in 2007 included several varieties of red grape, including the classic Cabernet Franc, which has never been grown this far north before
The success of the new grape, Solaris, is awaited with interest. Brian Edwards of the Vine Nursery describes it as 'A new and very promising early resistant hybrid from Germany. It is very early, with good crops and exceptionally high sugars. Highly recommended. Good eating, though grapes are a bit small.
