Mercian Competition 2010

The 2010 Wine Challenge was held at Wroxeter Roman Vineyard near Shrewsbury. Once the only vineyard in Shropshire, the example set by David, Christine, Amanda and Martin Millington has meant that there are now more than 10 vineyards in the county.Facilities and the faculties of the judging panel were severely tested by over 115 wines from all over the region. The outcome was that a still Bacchus, produced by our chairman, Chris Gallimore, won the Attingham Trophy for the best wine
In addition to the existing cups, there were be 2 new challenges for members. In this, vineyards are asked to submit their choice of best wine, and attending members will vote on them. The victor was Halfpenny Green's Penny Red
